It all started on an island in the Stockholm archipelago when two friends began designing a full-size rocking chair – drawing inspiration from the Swedish classic babysitter chair.

Turning the concept upside down marked the beginning of a long journey to develop a completely different kind of lounge chair.

Both Raoul Lindqvist and Geir Hartly Andreassen have professional roots in the film and media industry. Sharing a passion for creative design, they started Raoul & Hartly while continuing with their main careers.

More than 10 years later we are now proud to present RH1.

Our ambition has been to create a classic chair – a timeless piece of art.

A simplistic, clean, yet sophisticated construction, where every line has a purpose - to create comfort and elegance, without unnecessary gadgets.

RH1 has a technically complex form with no straight lines or angles, yet its appearance is simple and harmonious - simple is difficult.

The tripod stance ensures stability on any surface, while the circular lines of the stainless-steel body lend elegance and a meditative rocking motion. The handcrafted leather seating offers inviting comfort, and the custom-made, hand-lathed screws contribute to the chair’s refined aesthetic.

All materials are of premium quality and manufactured, processed, and assembled locally in Sweden, with a high level of craftsmanship. The leather is supplied by Tärnsjö Garveri, a Swedish tannery founded in 1873 and appointed Supplier to the Swedish Royal Court. Their vegetable tanning is unmatched, certified for having no harmful substances.
